Are you sure it is coming from the engine compartment? Several of the forums have been talking about problems with the clockspring in the steering column. There is a TSB on the clockspring problem. The TSB# is 1900601A (Component: Steering: Column - Experiencing steering column click sound when the steering wheel is turned).

My 03 GT with 5100 miles is starting to make a squeeking/rubbing noise when I turn the steering wheel that I suspect is the steering column or clockspring. It will drive you crazy.
