First time I've agreed with Jerry Flint of Forbes, but on this commentary he is right on the mark. Chrysler needs to see the icon that the PT is and improve on the engineering, driving characteristics, fuel economy, etc. As PT owners we know all the flaws as well as all the positives. The retro design definitly is not a flaw. In fact my PT was payed another comment the other day; a friend of mine that is thinking about buying a Dodge Caliber took a look at my PT and said that my cars lines are aging well. When I asked her what she ment by that she said that my PT still looked stylish. When I asked her why not get a PT convertible she replied that the Caliber gets better gas mileage. She's a house appraiser so, driving from house to house every day means gas economy is first on her mind.
I think if Chrysler puts the same I4 engine which is in the Dodge Caliber into the PT this could help fuel ecomomy. Also if Chrysler adopts the 4WD from the Jeep Compass and incorporates it into the PT this would also be an engineering improvement. And like I've mentioned in previous posts launching DCX's first hybrid would best be done throught the PT. So a PT with an I4 engine, CVT, hybrid, with 4WD would be the perfect vehicle for me, I'd pay up to 40K for something like that.
So DCX please save money on redesigning the PT and put it into engineering. Who agrees?
