The turning circle is a direct result of the front end tightness... if the wheel wells were wider to accommodate sharper steering angles, there would be even less space under the hood.
Take it from someone who parallel parks every day; you will get used to it. (May take a year or two, but you can get used to it).
Besides it keeps 1d10ts from cranking in too much steering at too high a speed on under inflated tires and flipping over; Think of how much fun Ralph Nader, etc. would have had with =that=.
