Strangelove,

It's hard to see because the pictures are too small, but are the 1/2 inch holes that you drilled far enough away from any water that will splash up in the rain. A few drops of water into the intake will do a world of hurt to your engine. When I first accessed that area while hooking up my washer lights to the front left headlight I thought about making a hole there but the thought of water splashing up made me think twice. I've seen bent piston rods as a result of water splashing into the air intake and it's not a pretty picture.
