The others are right. Don't do anything you don't feel good about. Some of the aftermarket parts don't fit that well so the way you feel about mods is to go to one of the bigger events and look at the Cruisers that are there. Most people will be glad to answer your questions. If there are 100 Cruisers no two will be alike. This way you can see what you might want to do in person. Also don't get the impression that mods will add to the resale value if anything it drops the value so do things that can be changed back if you don't intend to keep your Cruiser for a long time
