The stock alarms are NOT alarms, they are remote entry systems. PLUS they run off the battery. Any half intelligent car thief knows that 95% of alarms are run off the battery, hence by disconnecting the power cable the car is a sitting duck. They simply smash the window, lean in, pop the hood, cut the ground on the battery...
I can definitely sympatize with you Saki, this happened to my PT a little while ago. It was a show car, appraised at $50,000, and it was STRIPPED!! Everything from custom 2 tone seats, to billet grille, to intake was either taken or destroyed. The worst part was the mechanical oil press. gauge on my piller; that when ripped out caused oil to shoot all over the interior! All this after DRILLING through the lock and around it on the drivers door.
My suggestion to you, is to give your insurance receipts for ALL the aftermarket and it should be covered under theft. When you get her back is to invest in a GOOD alarm. The Alpine SEC-150R is awesome, w/ proximity and vibration. Have a second self powered siren installed as well. To get rid of one of these they have to rip it out of the car and throw it VERY far away, the best part being it'll still be going off after it's out of the car!!
