I have upgraded my audio system completly. Here is the system configuration:
1. Head Unit- Kenwood KDC MP922 cd/MP3 player w/integrated Changer and satellite radio controls.
2. Speakers- Front Door (factory location) Pioneer 3Way coaxial speakers. (came with adapter ring from Pioneer for mounting using factory screw locations). Also installed Foam speaker baffles in speaker cavities. This is a must as the doors tend to get condensation and a little moisture from heavy rain. Not much, but enough to make it necessary to use the baffles.
3. Speakers- Rear Pillar (factory location) Pioneer 6"x8" 4 way coaxial speakers. Packed the plastic grille/speaker coner with sound insulation (soft fiberglass) to dampen any base vibration from the increased base response from the speakers. Bolt on fit-no modification needed.
4. MTX seriesII 12" subwoofers (2) mounted in a MTX sealed subwoofer box covered in dark gray carpeting that matches the cruiser interior. Black Steel subwoofer grilles and attachment kits. Lowered the package shelf to the middle position and mounted adjustable furniture legs to the box and leveled so that subs (upward firing)are just at the top of the back seat level (not counting headrest)
5. Power Amplifiers- Subs-MTX D421 Mono Block amplifier (400 watts into the 2 ohm subwoofer impedance) Front- MTX Model 4244 4 channel amp bridged to 2 channel operation (120 amps/channel into the 4 ohm front speaker impedance) Rear- MTX Model 4244 4 channel amp bridged to 2 channel operation (120 amps/channel into the 4 ohm rear speaker impedance)
6. CD Changer Kenwood KDC-C717 (10 disc) changer mounted under drivers seat.
7. Satellite Radio- Kenwood KTC-SR901 Sirius Satellite radio tuner
8. Misc- All amplifiers and satellite radio tuner mounted on an amplifier pod below the package shelf. All power (and ground) wiring to the amp array is 4 gauge monster cable. Installed a 1 Farad digital stiffening capicitor in the accessory area in the cargo bay on the drivers side in the rear of the cruiser. All wiring on the pod is 8 gauge wiring (very short lengths). All speaker wire is Streetwire twisted pair cable. (12 gauge for the full range speakers & 8 gauge for the subs) Sorry to be long winded but I have been designing and building this system for 2 months now and just completed the installation & configuration.
