Yes, I had to drill a 3/4 inch hole in a very precise place. There is double steel except for about a one inch area. The instructions helped. The hockey puck antenna has a snap that catches as soon as you insert the antenna. There is also a pad of double sided tape to keep the puck from turning from side to side. Once you insert the antenna, you can only unsnap the puck from the underside. If I ever change, I will put a ham antenna in its place.
