I too have the same problem. It's when the lights are off, it's still daylight, the "tunnel effect" is working and there is also reflection.
There are certain times of the day and certain outside light situations where the speedometer is virtually unreadable. In daylight,IMHO, there is not enough contrast between the dial face and the numerals to make it readable. But then, who looks at the spedometer anyway? Go with the flow.[8)]
