YES, for me at least I do believe a larger shifter ball type knob enhanced my shifting ability--your mileage may vary. One of the reasons I switched from my GT 5-speed to the 04GT Autostick when I got my 04GT was because of this problem:

For me at least, I believe replacing the stock shifter knob helped slightly in compensating for this "design problem", but, I'm not sure. [:I] Still, no regrets in making the change. These knobs are made in Italy, are of the highest-quality, and LOOK AND FEEL so much better than the inexpensive plasic
