If the scratch can be felt with your fingernail, it has gone through the clear coat. Buffing may improve it but it won't make it perfect. When you look at a scratch, it is the light reflecting from the walls of it that make it noticable. By buffing, you smooth the walls even with the highest point. Thats why I tell people on a percentage basis how it can be improved. Some scratches will disappear if only on the top layer of the clear. Gary
