I don’t really understand how that would even work. They are stating that the "cost" to make the fuel is $1.50 / Gallon - which is fine. However, the national average for gasoline tax is $0.25 per gallon. The gasoline companies have to make SOME money, so let’s say they make $0.25 per gallon. That would still put the national average of gas at $2.00 / gallon. Not really sure where they are coming up with the numbers that the gas price could go back down to $1.25 - $1.50 per gallon.
In MI I know the gas tax is $0.352 per gallon. I might be wrong, but that doesn’t even seem logical that the gas prices could ever get down that low due to whatever reasons that is making the cost of manufacturing gasoline go up.
