Default Guide: 2006 Power windows and Sunroof always on.

Hello, this is my first post on the PT Cruiser forums.

I had my PT for a week now but already I am starting to modify it.
I am not your traditional car modder, my background is in electronics.
I have modded my Protege with a few cool things before buying my PT Cruiser.

Now onto the guide:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This modification shows you how to make the Power Windows and Sunroof powered without the key in the ignition.

This modification is for a 2006 PT Cruiser. I do not anticipate that the modification will be the same for an older PT Cruiser as it may be wired differently.

I do not expect that this modification will drain your battery, as it didn't drain the battery on my protege.
It has not drained my battery while sitting at work for 8 hours.

This modification is a DO AT YOUR OWN RISK project. I am NOT responsible for any damage that may occur to you, or your car.

I did this mod by careful study of the service manual, and checking the wires function before I cut anything.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two power wires running to the sunroof.
A 25 amp always on circuit , and a 15 amp circuit that powers the sunroof (and the dash power outlet)
The goal is to re-route the switched circuit so that it can work off the always on circuit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

For the power windows there is a single switched power wire.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Connector C104 is the connector that is easiest to get to for this modification.
All three wires we need run though this connector.
Pin 7 (Pink with Yellow) is the Power Window circuit.
Pin 11(Red with Yellow) is the Always on circuit.
Pin 30 (Pink with Orange) is the Sunroof circuit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Connector 104 is located under the drivers side dash.
This is a large black connector with a white holding tab.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You will find this connector near the OBD Connector.
You have to press-in a tab to allow the white holding tab to release.
I recommend you disconnect your car battery before removing this connector.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Using the wiring diagrams, CAREFULLY locate and separate the required wires.
Disconnect the car battery before attempting to cut any wires.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To power the sunroof, cut the Pink with Orange wire a few inches away from the connector.
Tape off the wire that runs into the engine compartment.
Connect a in-line fuse holder to the end that runs into the connector.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Install a tap onto the Red with Yellow wire.
This will provide battery power directly to the sunroof circuit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow the same procedure for the Pink with Yellow wire to energize the Power Window circuit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Install a 15amp fuse on the sunroof circuit, and a 20 amp fuse on the power windows circuit.
Re-connect C104 and the car battery.
Test that your windows work when the is no key in the ignition.

A side-effect of this modification is that the power outlet in the dash will be always-on.
