Default Re: sluggish 2001 5-Speed

There really isn't a need to reflash the computer unless there was a TSB on something that has to do with programming. A responsible owner will get that done under warranty for free so an owner down the road won't have to pay for it. I've had a '01 automatic PT, a highly modified '03 5 speed GT that had V8s for lunch and my wife has a '04 automatic PT. The only computer that had to be reflashed was the '04 and that was for a TSB for a stalling issue. It was done under warranty for free. Neither the '01 or the '03 needed the computer reflashed. If a mechanic is saying you need your computer reflashed ask him what the TSB is for. There is no such thing as reflashing a car computer to refresh it. To refresh a car computer you disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes and this takes the computer right back to stock. A car computer is not like your home computer. If you are paying to have your computer reflashed just to refresh it you are throwing your money away.
