Default Inexpensive VS High cost Air intake filter conversions

OK, I know that most of the time it pays to pay the extra bucks.....but has anybody used the Inexpensive Air intake filter conversions sold on Ebay?
with shipping they are $40.00 vs $175.00 to $240.00 units.
They look the same.....pipe made of chromed metal....& has a similar filter...
Does this pay to get? .... or just keep the Chryser original box?
