I respectfully declined because I got a lower price quote from my regular mechanic (about $500).

What are they doing for carbon buildup? Used to be the "highway tuneup" - find an open stretch of road and open 'er up!
Tune up? All there is is plugs and wires - yes, always a good idea, just don't waste money on stock wires (Cranes at www.RaceAndStreet.com ) the stock plugs aren't bad.
If it were me - do plugs, wires, and get tranny flushed. Tranny flush should be about $200. Plugs, wires installed $100 - $150.
BTW - my '05 just hit 55,000 miles - I plan to have tranny flushed.
