I would think you would want it as close to the throttle body as possible for optimal effect. The intent of the BOV is to prevent a pressure spike behind a closed throttle body causing a pressure plus back to the turbo stopping the turbine from spining. If it's near the throttle body it is venting pressure at the source of the spike.

The benefit is less spool up time between shifts and increased longevity of the turbo bearings.
