Urban Legends Reference Pages: Senate Vote on Official Language of America
I really bristle when I hear "prejudice" when I say I want English as the official language. To me, it's prejudicial when I hear demands for Spanish driver's tests, for example - what about the other languages?
What about common sense? Suppose you pass a driver's test in a foreign language - the sign says "One way, do not enter" - how does that work out??
As to every single issue being partisan:
I sent the following Letter to the Editor to my local newspaper:
"Are you tired of democrats saying something is white and republicans saying it's black, when you feel the truth is that it is a shade of gray?
Were you sick of the republican abuses but disappointed now with how little the democrats have done? Wouldn't you like a third choice?
Come to Unity08 online – just Google Unity08.
The idea is to get a democrat and a republican candidate for president and vice president with good ideas to move the country forward and away from the stalemate of partisan politics.
Potential candidates are discussed. Issues are debated and ranked in importance. Candidates will be selected based on positions on issues, and be invited to become Unity candidates.
If you like Hillary or Giuliani or Romney, don't bother to come, because apparently you don't care about issues, since none of those have any reliable stance on issues and are as political as it gets.
If you are tired of the best government money can buy, join up.
Potential candidates for the Unity ticket are those who won't be nominated by the 2 parties:
Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Joe Biden, Chuck Hagel, Colin Powell, Mike Bloomberg, Bill Richardson, are a few of the names discussed as potential candidates.
Please come and let's take back our government.
Don Hagen. "
I feel it is worth a try.
