I have had many turbo cars in the past from shelby daytona's to 10 second grand nationals. so I am not new to the game, only this car in paticular.

Take the white doughnut out, cut the bottom silencer flush with the inside of the box and replace the very restrictive turbo to airbox hose that narrows down to 1 1/2" inside with another silencer. As for losing torque with an open intake here is a dyno which pretty much gives the same results as others I've seen with an open intake vs stock box.

Now granted, you need an open intake with a big turbo, but with the stock turbo it hurts torque.
