well, I am not an ASE certified mechanic...but having owned 15+ vehicles in my lifetime and not having to replace one single gas pump.....I am not that worried about a gas pump failing simply for driving it into the red. Besides, if the gas pump on the PT goes out for such a stupid reason then it just tells me that I need to look for a different vehicle. So far it has been a blast and knock on wood. Besides, I don't do it all the time.
