If the plastic liner is cold, itll be more apt to break. if you warm it up, the plastic becomes more pliable and resistant to breakage. I use a heat gun and warm the liner up before i pry on it with a nylon trim tool or windshield bone. works everytime, i havent broken one since i started doing it. for more access, lift the vehicle up on that corner and let that wheel hang down, itll give you all the room you need.

If you find that the liner access cover has screws holding it in, the liner is a cheap aftermarket replacement placed there by a bodyman who was bound by an insurance company's tyrannical mandate, or someone who was trying to be cheap.
