I still remember the first PT Cruiser I ever saw. I was in an office and glanced out the window to the parking lot next door...I was hooked! After looking at untold numbers of bland lookalike econoboxes it was refreshing to see a small car with a little individuality and flair. Especially when I can't tell the difference between a Mazda/Kia/Focus/Hyundai/etc. without reading the badge. I like small cars. I like the responsiveness and the feeling you are part of the car and not just aiming a large boat in traffic. In past years I have had VWs, Pintos, Mavericks and Vegas (remember those?) and later on Tracers, Neons and Escorts. Not only does the PT have them all beat in looks, dependability and flair, it also trounces them for practicality. Do any of the aforementioned cars had a rear seat you could not only fold, but tumble or remove? I can turn my very practical PT 4 door sedan into a mini-mini-van in a minute! Over Half the previous list didn't even have front wheel drive. I could get the Pinto stuck between two snowflakes. The VW bug had rear drive but the front trunk was a joke and a Michigan winter was brutal with a heater that put out less heat than a birthday candle.
I am glad Detroit finally got it right.... Long Live the PT!!
