Default Re: sirius receiver mounting

If you don't want to spend the extra $$ purchasing the separate cup holder mount I came up with a cheap alternative. Yes, you do lose a cup holder but it's a lot better than having it mounted on the dash pad, or windshield.

Clean the area around the cup holder with rubbing alcohol as well as the inside of it (the sides of the well).

Then, all I did was used the mounting disc that came with the radio (the one you are supposed to mount to the dash that the suction cup sucks down to) and stuck it to the top of the lid off a can of black spray paint after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. The lid sits down almost flush in the cup holder and touches the sides of it as well. I put a couple of pieces of 3M two-sided tape on the sides of the paint lid and then sat the lid with the disk in the cup holder.

The disc has a large enough diameter it sticks to the lip around the cup holder, the sides of the paint lid stick to the inside of the cup holder which keeps the entire thing from tipping over.

This may sound crazy, but it works, it cost a few cents to make and it looks good. I can upload a pic if anyone is interested in seeing the end result.
