Anybody else having trouble with the Pos battery terminal getting corroded very quickly?

When I picked up the 2006 Vert in California and drove back in November, I found what I thought was a very acid corroded Positive battery terminal that looked like it had never been cleaned. I had just experienced a short and burn of a cable on my Caravan the previous year. So.... I did a really good job cleaning both terminals...even using a cup of Baking soda water to clean off the POs.

4 months later, today, it looked as bad as it did in November. I am used to solid soft lead squeeze leads on the cable ends. But, these are obviously copper, and are two adjacent plates with short flat lips that make the contact.
Besides the good cleaning of the metal & battery poles....any othe suggestions??

(This is a turbo vert; as where the soonercruiser, a NA, has no such Pos terminal corrosion problem???)
