Re: where to put a amp??
Several years ago, I tried playing around with the rear speakers in my 2002 and found that it really didn't matter what I replaced them with (Pioneer to JBL), the small cavity in the rear pillars are just too small. As a result, I remove the shelf in the back, used it as a template and build a new wooden shelf with two sides coming together at the bottom (looks like a triangle from the side). I added a 12 inch sub pointed towards the back seat and two 6 X 9 on top. A small 500 W amp is fastened to the side. If I need to haul something, all wiring is on a quick disconnect and the box is removed. The sound is excellent especially the low end. The stock radio was also replaced with a JVC which really is the best "bang for the buck". My point is this; you will drive yourself crazy trying to get decent speakers in the stock cavities. A single 4x8 sheet of 5/8 plywood and some sanding and staining does the trick. I'll send you photos if you wish.
