Bob,
You did the right thing with filling out your profile so at least I can tell what year your PT is. The floor center console has to come up to replace the light bulb at the shifter. If I remember right, there's two screws at the rear of the console (one on each side) by the rear cup holder. You'll also have to take the leather shift handle off as I was describing to ucantcme. Once the two screws are out (I can't remember if there's one or two screws towards the front) and the seats are pushed all the way towards the back, pull the handbrake up as far as it will go. Lift the floor console from the back. The plate for the rear window switches comes out without too much trouble and you have to unhook the electrical connections. Lift the console up from the rear. At this point, you'd have to unhook the front 12v connection from the cigarette lighterthat's in the front of the console, but your not taking the console all the way off so you should be able to see the plate that covers the light bulb at the shift lever.
