Default Extended warranty, what does it cover?

Today while I was at the Chrysler dealership for a routine oil and filter change for my 2005 PT I inquired about extending the bumper-to-bumper warranty as that portion of the warranty expires in July. The dealer's Business Manager quoted a four year extension through Chrysler at $2,380 with $100 deductible for each use. The dealer then offered to knock the price down to $2,180.

Three days ago I called Chrysler directly to inquire about the same bumper-to-bumper extension. Chrysler quoted $1,345 for the same coverage for my PT.

While most folks would say that the extension offered directly through Chrysler is a better "deal," I'm not so sure. I mentioned to the dealer's Business Manager that I was interested in the warranty extension as I didn't want my wife to worry about the cost of repairs over the next four years as I don't know if I will live that long. The Business Manager assured me that I will live that long. That might just be a better deal.
