Mean Green is exactly right on the resistor. Fools the engine into thinking there's colder air coming into the engine and advances the timing which feeds more fuel into the engine. Maybe get a little (2-5hp) out of it but it's doing it all the time, even at idle, so how they claim more MPG is mind boggling.
