Old Head,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

First, let me rescind my remark about it being too loud in the current configuration. I discovered that a vacuum hose on the top of the intake manifold, right after the throttle body, had blown off! It was the culprit in the noise department! I secured it with a zip tie to prevent further problems. BTW, there is also a small plastic hose coming off of the side of the turbo that tees into another hose that tends to come off under boost. I also zip tied it in place to prevent if from coming off again. Once these problems were resolved, my cruiser seemed to come alive again, AND the noise from the intake in the cowl was NOT too loud anymore!

I thought about putting a divider in the center of the cowl to help reduce the sound that came in through the ducting, but I don't think that is really necessary now.

The next thing I have to tend to is condensation. The 45-degree pipe from the cowl down to the air box gets so cool while driving that water actually condenses on the outside of the pipe! I will need to insulate it to prevent that from happening.

On a further note regarding performance. While the vacuum hoses were in the "off" position, I had been unable to get the boost to go much over 12 pounds, with an immediate drop back down after the spike. Using a Tazzo VPC, I was only able to achieve a best 0-60 MPH time of 7.7 seconds. Very disappointing! After discovering the hose problems, and correcting them, I went back out to retest. Now the boost went to 15 pounds, leveled at 13, and got me to 60 MPH in 6.98 seconds. Now we're cooking! This was on a concrete street with me feathering it in low gear to keep it from burning the tires off. My 60-foot time was a slow 2.43 seconds, but as I said, I still got to 60 MPH in less than 7 seconds!

If you still want to chat with me, you can call me a home this evening after 7:30 PM CDT at 972-625-2037. Good Luck!
