I bought my 2003 PT GT with 51K miles and paid a little over that (plus tax & plate ect)... I think there is definately room to move on that car.
Plus it's heading for 80K, 80-90K is timing belt time which is not a cheap job if you are not going to do it yourself.
Seems a nice car, but you should be offering him $800 less, aiming to end up paying under $6K
