My license plate light uses white LEDs too, but mine is a full surround. The license plate spot in my bumper is frenched in, so I used a full surround light disguised in a chrome license plate frame. It looks really sweet at night, plus you can change it to red at the flip of a switch (but OF COURSE I dont do that, be cause THATS ILLEGAL
