Patrick,

There are just a couple electrical connection left on the rear of the upper manifold that aren't taken off so that's why it's still attached. The connections are easy to take off if you need to remove the entire manifold. If I remember right, one connection has a clip, the other has two screw type releases. At lease that's how it is on a 2001.
