Some Mopars have problems getting through the winter without loosing some charge. At the start of spring when the a/c is turned on it won't cycle. The system will be low, but not empty. Some shops then try to convince you that you have a leak and will replace expensive parts and then next spring same thing...

I know you live in CA so that probably won't be the case for you with it not surviving the winter, (unless you get -40 there like me!

). But I would think that shops would try to gouge the same there.
My last bill for recharging the a/c was I think about $60 for the freon (actually 134a I believe) and another $60 for labor.
