Of course all that depends on how deep the water spots went into the paint. If it was acid rain, and left to sit on the paint for awhile, you might not be able to get rid of them with re-painting.
One more caveat, do not reuse the clay IF you drop it as it will pick up dirt which then will leave scratches in/on your finish. Claying is a easy thing to do and it will let YOU find any and all blemishes in the finish. I'm not sure that a detail shop will clay the car first. Some only wash, wax, polish a vehicle.
