Re: question about brake noises
Hooligan/Guys:
On my '03 I've had a problem (for a few weeks now) where when I am backing out of a driveway/parking spot and I turn the front wheels I ususally get a VERY LOUD squeaking noise. It won't do it if the wheels are straight though. Somtimes on one particular on ramp I use (broadly curved to the left) the sound will occasionally happen (even though the brakes are not being applied)but the squeak sounds as if whatever is causing it is making the squeak "cycle" at a faster rate.
Does this sound like the problem you were having or is this something different. And when I say LOUD in parking lots, I mean it turns heads from 50 ft away. The sound is definitely coming from the drivers side front wheel.
I also have the rear brakes "I've been sitting for two days and no one drove me" squeaking that goes away after two or three stops. I'm guessing that one is just rust removal. I was told this is common on PT's but not an issue.
With my particular problem there is NO degredation in brake performacne.
Thoughts?
Tom
