Default Missing Oil Mystery?

Well I have a 06 Mitsubishi Endeavor which is my 2nd favorite vehicle next to my PT...It only has 33000US miles...I had a oil change done at a dealera few months back. I drove it 12 hours to Vernon BC Canada 2 weeks ago. My wife noticed a clicking sound so we pulled over to gas up...I checked the oil and there was no oil on the dipstick. I added a litre...still no oil...another 1/2 litre still no oil on dipstick...I drove to a lube shop....no leaks found...2 more litres added. My Endeavor holds4.5 litres.....a total of 3.5 litres was added. This is a complete mystery...I am not burning blue smoke, no leaks...the lube shop stated the dealer may not have put enuuf oil in. I watch the dipstick daily now and everything seems OK. Any advice to this MYSTERY????I phoned the dealer that did the oil change but he said I never would have made it this long if they shorted me 3.5 litres. He insists I am burning oilo
