If you don't have stage 1 you will get a CEL. If you do have stage 1 you can remove it. Keep in mind it's a heavy fine if you get caught without one. You won't pass emissions, either. With stage 1 you can always remove the cat and put it on if you have to go through DEQ. It only gives you a 2-5 hp boost if you take it off. I just went with a Magnaflow high flow cat.
