Default Re: loose timing belt and gears not moving - urgently need help pls.

I'll just give you my thoughts. I have 94K and looking around to do the same job before it goes out when I don't want it to. I'm pretty friendly with my local Chrysler dealer and even talked with the mechanic that would probably do the work. He has done it before and I like that part of it. The part I don't like is that it's $90 an hour so with everything I'm going to have done (timing belt, sepentine belt, alternator belt, water pump and tensioner) it will probably run about $1000.

I've asked around at other places and I can have it done cheaper but I can't find any one that's done a PT. I've read alot on these forums about people that have had it done and have done it themselves and you can run into problems.

I'll probably go with the Chrysler Dealer as I know they'll have the right parts and the experience of doing the job before.

P.S. When I first read your post I was kind of stunned as I guess I took it the wrong way. The first time reading it I was thinking that you thought our diagnosis sucked, but after re-reading it I can see that you meant the idea of having the timing belt done is what sucked.
