Re: This country is soo stupid
- Crewzin, you said it. Getting alternative fuels to a useable state will definitely take some experimentation at the consumer level. It is completely idiotic that the Maryland State government (I have also read a similar story about my own F***ed up Illinios gov.) would do this.
- This kind of crap just puts a bind on the necessary incremental developments we need in society to move away from crude oil based transportation. Hell, I've already been thinking about ways to add a DC electric motor to my PT to help with improving the mileage (creating a home made hybrid of sorts). I would shout from the rooftops if the U.S./State government tried to fine me for it!
- The Media, don't get me started. Are they necessary...sure. Can they do a much better job....yes! I mean c'mon people, have you sat down and watched CNN for a while in the last decade or so? It's on 24 hrs. a day and for all the content and value of the news they report they could take it down to oh....say....1 hour per day, and just keep rerunning the same news cast. And as for giving away tactical information, well that's just about the dumbest thing anyone can do - at least in Iraq they seem to be pretty good about keeping the stuff under wraps long enough for it to work out.
Most of my news comes from AM radio becasue that's about all I can stand - 5to 10 minutes of it. It's all too stupid for words sometimes. Remember NBC airing the sick video's of the Virgina Tech. shooter? WTF? That crap should have been given straight to the authorities, to air it is just sensationalism and shows how poor the morality and decision making skills are at high levels of our media leadership.
Being part Canadian, I was extremely proud that the CBC chose not to air ANY of the coverage of that particular event - outside of reporting the basic facts.
