Default Re: Question about rims for an 05

Re14 or 15 in Rims for Ice & Snow Tires

I live in Ontario and my Son just one hr. ago told me to look into 15 in rims for my /07 convertible. The explanation for you southern folks is we have a slight problem up here in the great white north called SNOW. Now sometimes it is only 3 or 4 inches but my friend over on the east coast with a good winter might also have 3 or 4 ---- ( FEET ) a bad one could be 6 to 10 feet. Ya we Canadian's can outbrag you Texans on that one!!!!
Enough of the explanation.
My Son said Dad you are running 205-55-16 probably low profile all season tires on nice shinny rims that the salt will eat and pit so why not get 14 or 15 inch rims and regular ice and snow tires to fill the height to the original tire height . This would put a tire on all four wheels with black steel rims that we really don't care if they rust or not but would fill the wheel well's the way the original tires should do. The 14 or 15 in rims and the snow and ice tires in the smaller size's are considerably cheaper than the 16 in tires and rims.

I also know tires in the good old USA are a lot cheaper than in Canada.
Toyo Summer T1R's for my Miata were $325.00 a set cheaper in Michagin than here in Ontario.
Also what about the Disk Brake Calipers will They allow the 14 or 15 inch smaller rims? I am new to this forum as well but hope someone out there in syber land can held both of us Canadians out with some good answer's

Thx Guy's and Gal's
