Default Re: Turbo reacting to K&N filter

Mean Green, could you elaborate on the loss of torque for my benefit? I can understand that it could do that in a n/a setup, but how does the CAI affect a turboed setup in a way that torque would be lost? In my mind it would seem that if the turbo has less restriction to the air going into it, it should help with power along with maybe throttle response, I just don't see how it could cost you torque. The only variable I can think of that would is that most CAI actually suck hot air from under the hood whereas the stock intake sucks a bit more from the fender liner although it still doesn't suck the coolest air.

I'm just trying to get a broader view of my understanding of turboed engines. I'm going to be using my ATV as a test mule for my own education and turbo it this fall. 70RWHP will be fun on a 600lb machine! Anything I can learn now will be a help to me later.

Thanks,
Ben
