If you are refering to the High Center Mounted Brake Light, you can remove the cover by gripping near one end and pulling straight down (with the hatch cover open) there are 5 clips that hold the cover on. No pun intended but I'm not sure myself what you are thinking about. Center brake light?!
It seems clear to me that chips61 wants to change a dead light behind the instrument cluster.
I can't talk for the 2006+ models, but here are the instructions for the 2005- cluster.
