Default 2006 Touring, No Brake Lights

I love my PT ('Touring Edition', 2006, 45,000 miles)

Had a slip and fall ... broken hip (not even 50 years old yet). On the way home from the hospital, my sister was driving my PT and got pulled over. NO BRAKE LIGHTS (it's okay, cop was cool, gave us a 'warning). I have all interior lights, dash lights, headlights, turn signals and ONE tail light (when the headlights are on). I have (only visibly) checked the fuses and they all look fine. (the brake light above the back door window IS working)

My thinking is a bad ground (the battery connectors are slightly corroded). If it's not that ... is it true there is NO fuse for the brake lights? Where else might I start? It would just seem strange and AWFULLY coincidental that both brake lights would blow at the same time.

Any ideas? I am stumped (which is funny because I am also an amputee).

Boo Hoo.
