The best setup for a turbo car is if you could have an exhaust that tappers. Large at the begining and smaller at the end. When the exhaust comes out of the turbo, its at its hottest temperature. The hotter a gas, the more volume it will occupy, as the exhaust cools down, it will not need as much space.
The stock muffler is baffled and you dont want any chambers in an turbo car. You want a free flowing straight through exhaust system. On one of our fellow supra owners, he is pumping about 1000hp to the wheels. By disconnecting his exhaust and leaving only the downpipe on, he picked up almost 100 hp from this alone!
So bigger is better, but honestly, 2.5" system is plenty unless you go over 400 hp.
