Radiator Cracked
Hi All!
I only seem to come here when I have problems, but i have had way too many in teh last year that I am tempted to trade in the PT.
On Friday my car wouldn't start - got it jumped, AAA told me I needed a new battery. Roughly 40,000 miles were on the battery.
I had a friend offer to replace it for me to save me the cost at the dealer of install. He took a look inside the engine to make sure he could do it when I noticed dried, white splatters on the left side.
I had to get my oil changed as well so took it to the dealer to get an idea of the white splatters.
They said it was a cracked radiator.
I had them do nothing since I have a mechanic who does everything for less.
Long story short I took it to the dealer to save time from traveling to my mechanic 40 miles away, but I ended up going to the mechanic anyways for the radiator.
Mechanic confirmed cracked radiator and of course was hundreds less than the dealer.
My car has neer overheated nor has the gauge gone above normal temp levels. No error codes to indicate the problem.
Is this common for PTs to crack radiators at 68,000 miles?
For those who don't want to look up my other posts, I've had the following replaced since I bought the car new on 05:
Rack and Pinion
AC leak sealed
MAP Sensor replaced
Coil Pack replaced
2 sets of Spark plugs
1 set of new wires
Camshaft sensor replaced
Right, lower front motor mount replaced
Major service at 45,000 miles with every fluid flushed, plus other preventative maintenance done
Oil changes every 4,000 miles
Is there something else around the corner I should be expecting? Like Transmission? Engine?
I'm really not willing to drop thousands to replace an engine or transmission only 4 years into owning this car.
Advice please! = (
