First, just a quick question: Does your PT have greasable lower ball joints from the factory?
Now, the story: On December 23, 2008 I became suspicious of the stealership not greasing my lower ball joints during a lube/oil/filter.
Yet another reason Chrysler is suffering...
I go in today and politely ask the guy to be sure to grease the lower ball joints. Here's how it went:
Me: Could you be sure to grease the lower ball joints, I think they were forgotten last time.
Him: Your car has a sealed chassis, sir.
Me: That's what I would have guessed too, but the lower ball joints do have fittings on them.
Him: Maybe someone changed them out?
Me: I bought the car new with only 9 miles, so if they were swapped it was done before then, otherwise it's what Chrysler put in there.
Him: We'll see when we lift it up.
Then they lift it up to look for an oil leak that I asked them to look at and change the oil. They found the oil leak and called me out there to see it. While under the car with the mechanic, he comments on how strange it was to have greasable lower ball joints and that he had never seen any on a PT before.
Proper care and maintenance is critical. No wonder so many people have parts wear out prematurely on their cars.
