Purple PT girl- I have been detailing cars for years and know about the swirls.
Don't want to knock any products, cause some people really love the way certain ones work, but to truely get swirls out- stay away from any over the counter auto parts store waxes- no matter who makes them.
I just did a badly swirled car the other day and I used an expensive counter-rotating buffer-Cyclo (not a high speed- the high speeds tend to put the swirls there after all of the wax has worn off usually after 5 months)
I got a product that I really like called "Spider Web Glaze" from a company in PA (Detailking DOT com) I started by
1. A thoughrough washing of the car with a nondetergent soap-
2. Clay bar the whole paint immediatly after washing-
3. Then applied the Spider Web Glaze with a heavy cutting foam pad (yellow) this was a very long process, really working the areas where there were swirls and scratches-
4. Then the entire car with a strait carnuba wax and a white finishing foam pad-
It takes me 3-4 hours to do this and it can take all day on some cars. The job I did was $150 and a really bad car can be in upwards of $200-300 depending on the size of vehicle.
If that sound like too much for you and it is an investment in product, FIND a good detailer. Ask them about the swirls and their process. A high speed is the quick way and sometime unsafe way to get the swirls out, cause they will be back...
Remember you pay for what you get, therefore it may be a wise decision to purchase and try it yourself- you can keep trying till you get it right and you will have all new cool toys to make your cars shine with!
Hope this helped and good luck!
