Default Re: Good news from my mechanic

Brake flushing is recommended every two years. Once a can of brake fluid has been opened it should not be kept for over six months. Brake fluid contains alcohol. Alcohol absorbs water. Alcohol also boils at 160 degrees F.
I like to use DOT 4 brake fluid as it boils at a higher temperature. It should not be added to DOT 3 fluid. Synthetic brake fluids are expensive, and a waste for a street car.
