It could be because of how people drive and the roads they drive on. If there's lots of construction there are gonna be potholes...and bumps...I think we don't realize the damage we may cause by having to drive over this stuff.

I hit a deep pothole once while it was raining (the entire street was flooded) and I believe that's when I broke one of my engine mounts.

But the way the driver corners, how fast they drive when they do it...I would assume that all of these things are factors...
