For those wondering how much better the Turbo PT Muffler is than the non-turbo, I can make some general conclusions based on some sound level tests I just performed.
Here is the non-turbo muffler on my 2005 dead stock PT manual trans car. All readings taken from 5 feet from the tip's outlet with a calibrated sound level meter.
Idle 57 dBA
2200 rpm 68 dBA
3500 77 dBA
Now, the Turbo muffler which has slightly larger outlet and tip.
Idle 57 dBA
2200 69 dBA
3500 77 dBA.
From this, I can surmise that the mufflers are virtually identical inside and as usual, the muffler Chrysler used is not the restriction in the system, the catalytic converter is.
The PT has one nice exhaust system on it and for performance, I suspect the stock exhaust system can't be beat from the catalytic converter rearward. Sound, well that is a personal prefernce and many prefer different than stock sound quality.
But all is not lost with this swap as I got the cool new muffler from Gary in Illinois for really cheap and it makes me look more powerful with its cool, larger chrome tip

Thanks Gary!
Tom
